Reel in the fun at one of the Mudcat Festival’s favorite family traditions — the Kids Fishing Derby at Wingfield Park. Young anglers are invited to cast a line, enjoy the outdoors, and experience the excitement of fishing along the Grand River. This year we’re adding Fishing Skill Stations, where kids can learn tips and techniques to help them become even better anglers.
Participants will fish from shore and compete for prizes for the Longest Fish and the Heaviest Fish in each age group. Whether it’s their first time holding a rod or they’re already a seasoned young fisher, this event is all about fun, learning, and creating great memories.
To make sure every child has the best experience, we encourage families to register early.

All fish must be released after measurement and weigh-in.
Bass and Sunfish are not included.
Come enjoy a day by the river, learn a few new fishing skills, and see who reels in the biggest catch.
